Our May program features Gail Vittori, co-director of the Center for Maximum Performance Building Systems. Recognized as one of “Twenty Who Are Making A Difference in Healthcare” in Healthcare Design Magazine, Gail has been a catalyst for several national initiatives focused on greening the health care sector and advancing environmental health considerations in green building since 2000. During this presentation, Gail will:
- Identify trends in sustainable healthcare design globally based on a survey of 55 hospitals and healthcare facilities from around the world.
- Describe challenges facing the global healthcare community to respond to pressing issues of climate change, global toxification, water deficits, and public health in the context of healing environments.
- Provide in-depth assessment of best global practices to reduce energy use and potable water use intensity.
- Describe the role and opportunity of evolving rating systems globally to appropriately guide the continuum of healthcare building design, construction and operations.
