Energy, Cost and Sustainability

View Energy, Cost & Sustainability Presentation (PDF)

Energy plays a larger role in LEED V3 than in prior versions and in sustainability as a whole when considering our carbon footprint. This Energy, Cost & Sustainability seminar will explore the importance of energy within these contexts and provide an overview of two specific building systems to be addressed in relation to energy usage. These two systems, HVAC and Electrical, typically comprise the bulk of opportunities for energy savings within a building project or existing facility.

Professionals from the building subcontracting industry will examine pros and cons of the various systems available, cost, and how they relate to Sustainability.  An energy industry professional will then focus on the Business Case for Green Building, examining the cost issues related to a company’s decision to pursue LEED certification, building commissioning, and renewable energy.  The seminar will conclude with a round table discussion amongst the panel which will examine two specific and different building types to spur questions amongst all seminar attendees.

  • Discuss the importance of energy within the new LEED Version 3 rating system
  • Examine critical building systems to be addressed in relation to energy usage
