Did you know that USGBC-STL has a Speakers Bureau?

Since its launch in August 2008, the USGBC-STL Speakers Bureau has given over 30 presentations, reaching over 1500 individuals! It has long been a goal of the Chapter to create a speakers bureau, as we receive many requests. It takes a lot of time and energy for to oversee a speakers bureau, so several attempts over the years got good starts and then fizzled. Last summer, under the leadership of the Advocacy Committee, the Chapter developed simple protocols for Speakers Bureau Volunteers and a process for accepting requests and doling out speaking gigs. We haven’t looked back since!

Most presentations are basic overviews of green building and the LEED Green Building Rating System, but depending on the request and the audience, we can tailor presentations to cover specific topics such as affordable housing, the new LEED credentialing program, or green schools.

Speaking gigs over the past several months have included presentations to the Mehlville School Board, the Missouri Housing Development Corporation Commission, Association of Energy Engineers-St. Louis Chapter and the American Arbitration Association-St. Louis Steering Committee. The goal of the USGBC-STL Speakers Bureau is to advocate the benefits of green building and LEED by giving Chapter Members the opportunity to share their expertise and knowledge with the broader community.

Speakers Bureau Volunteers must be active Chapter members and must review and sign the Chapter’s Conflict of Interest Policy. Learn more about volunteering for the Speakers Bureau.
