USGBC-Missouri Gateway Committees
Promoting, collaborating, recruiting, educating…working committees are the lifeblood of the Missouri Gateway Chapter. Vital to our mission and our success in transforming the region’s built environment to a brighter shade of green. Committee members are required to:
- Maintain current USGBC-Missouri Gateway Chapter Membership
- Attend 9 out of 12 committee meetings during a one-year period
- Take an active role in the work of the committee, which may involve time outside of committee meetings
- Review the Chapter Conflict of Interest Policy and sign the Conflict of Interest Acknowledgement Form

Advocacy
Chair, Barbara Anderson, Oates Associates
Aim:Promote the adoption of LEED certification by actively advocating the benefits of sustainable buildings to industry groups, key individuals and the public at large. Our projects are focused on public presentations, educational events, promoting existing LEED projects and targeting advocacy via the 4 subcommittees – Homes, Government, K-12 schools and Higher Education.
Advocacy Committee activities include overseeing the Chapter Speakers Bureau, building alliances with other like-minded organizations, measuring progress of the Chapter and green building in the region, and representing the Chapter at community events and trade shows. Meets: 1st Wednesday, 11:30 am-1 pm at USGBC-Missouri Gateway office.
Green Schools (K-12) Advocacy Committee
Chair, Erik Lueders, Parkway School District
Aim: Provide resources to help schools attain LEED certification and pursue sustainable initiatives. Advocate for green schools in our region’s political and public discourse. Partner with other organizations to produce educational events about green schools in the Missouri Gateway region.
Green Schools Advocacy Subcommittee tasks include outreach to school districts, providing Green Schools presentations, coordinating Green Schools 101 and 201 events, and developing curriculum.

Higher Education Advocacy Committee
Chair, Lisa Wynne, Ecoscapes Sustainability Solutions, LLC
Aim: Promote the adoption of LEED certified buildings and renovations at area colleges and universities. The sub-committee advocates through education, fostering dialog between area institutions, and strategic contact to accelerate implementation of green planning and building design within the wider context of campus sustainability to promote healthy, productive and engaging places to live, learn and teach.
The Higher Education Advocacy Subcommittee assists in the organization of Higher Education Sustainability Consortium and Campus Sustainability Day, and promotes the adoption of LEED certification by area campuses for all new construction and substantial renovations.

Emerging Professionals

The USGBC-MGC Emerging Professionals are young professionals, recent graduates, and those new to green building industries. The task force aims to engage and welcome EPs into the Chapter, facilitate the integration of future leaders into Chapter groups and committees, create community-building events for EPs, such as happy hours and green building tours, and coordinate with the Membership Committee to support EP recruitment and retention strategies.

Marketing
Chair, Chrissy Hill Rogers, Arcturis
Aim:Disseminate information about green building events, resources, and issues to Chapter membership and the Missouri Gateway regional community. Manage public relations, coordinate marketing, and create and maintain the Chapter website, marketing materials, and exhibit booth.
Marketing Committee tasks include handling public relations and marketing, development and maintenance of the Chapter website, creation of Chapter marketing materials, trade show and community event booth development, and tracking current green building resources and issues.

Membership
Chair, Paul Todd Merrill, Clayco
Aim:Increase and diversify Chapter membership, retain current membership and engage new members in the Chapter.
Membership Committee activities include bi-annual New Member Welcome Events, creation and implementation of membership surveys, scholarship program development, promotion of National and Chapter membership, and development and implementation of member recruitment and retention strategies.

Programs
Chair, Allison Macon, Forum Studio
Aim: Produce an annual calendar of educational and training events that meet the needs of the Chapter. Support and partner with other organizations to produce additional educational efforts in the community. Use Programs as an outreach to other organizations.
The Programs Committee is responsible for establishing the yearly program schedule including monthly programs, programs with affiliated organizations, and tours of green buildings. Committee activities also include cultivating the USGBC Education Provider Program, providing continuing education for LEED Professionals and working to integrate in-depth workshops into the yearly program schedule.

Technical
Chair, Caryl Kinsey-Fox , Wildwood Design
The Technical Committee launched in 2010 and spearheads research both as a conduit to the Chapter and as champions of local green building related research. The committee also develops in-depth educational opportunities for key audiences.

Growing Green Awards Working Group
Chairs: Jen Kissinger, Paric Corporation & Katie Rietz, Cannon Design
The Growing Green Awards celebrate and recognize the individuals, groups and organizations actively transforming the built environment while sharing their knowledge of green building and sustainable practices. The Awards task force coordinates this annual event. Activities include solicitation of nominations, jury selection, and coordination of awards ceremony location and details.

Scholarship Working Group
Chair: Carolyn Gaidis, L.A.N.D. +
Plans the annual ECORIDE bike ride fundraiser and coordinates scholarships to provide green building & sustainability education and training for those who normally would not have access or could not afford it.
