Green Schools Quest Launch

Beginning May 1st, USGBC-Missouri Gateway will challenge public and private schools within the Chapter’s territory (Missouri and Southern Illinois) to devise and implement, with the help of green mentors, the most creative, effective and no or low cost sustainable practices for their schools. Applications for schools and mentors open May 1st.

The May 2 session will focus on the Sustainable Sites and Water Efficiency categories. For each credit category, presenters will review: A brief explanation of credit intent and requirements, reason for pursuing or not pursing a credit, data collection/monitoring, plans, policies, procedures, data submission/template, performance period, as well as review comments and lesson’s learned. A special New Member only event for members who have joined in the last six months! The U.S. Green Building Council - Missouri Gateway Chapter welcomes new members to come socialize and get acquainted with USGBC – Missouri Gateway! Chapter officers, past and present, will be on hand to share the chapter’s history, highlight member benefits & opportunities, and answer questions. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet fellow new members while enjoying a light breakfast. After new members have learned about the Chapter, they will tour Christner’s LEED Gold office space and learn about the office’s sustainable design, construction and operation features. The 10th Annual LEED Green Building Showcase features presentations on several local projects that are pursuing or have recently achieved LEED certification, including the 10 S. Brentwood renovation / addition project, home of the new Clayton Police station and the St. Louis Art Museum’s new addition. Join us to learn about the sustainable features of these and other projects.

Join us for a free educational panel on Construction & Demolition Materials hosted by USGBC-Missouri Gateway and the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis on the State of Construction & Demolition Recycling in St. Louis. The panel will include a discussion of the recent USGBC-Missouri Gateway research projects as well as two local case studies – one on opportunities for C&D diversion on a Washington University project and the second on Deconstruction as an alternative to demolition.
