Hosted in partnership with Illuminating Engineering Society – St. Louis Section.

Explore lighting and its role in sustainability-focused building design and operations, specifically in relation to LEED v4 with an emphasis on materials credits.

This seminar, intended for both building design and lighting professionals, will introduce attendees to the various material transparency disclosures and optimizations currently available, using lighting as a framework of understanding. Additionally, participants will explore the importance of lighting in ‘whole building” lifecycle impacts management, predominant lamp technologies and energy related life cycle impacts, and lighting considerations for human health and thriving.

A general summary of terminology will be included during this course hour, so that attendees feel confident in asking for, and using the information within the available transparency material disclosures. We will underscore the basics, such as life cycle analyses, environmental impact categories of EPD, “Red Listed Ingredients of Concern,” responsible sourcing and supply chain, and third party verified platforms.
