Insulation Technologies – In Depth Session

Of all the options that can be executed in the name of energy efficiency, insulation is probably at the top of the list. For new construction projects, it’s a choice that can make or break a home’s targeted energy performance. This seminar will present several favorite options, based on newest technologies.

Options reviewed will begin with the big picture – Whole Building Insulation such as Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) or Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs).  Then the discussion will move to a focus on other localized insulation choices, keeping an eye on proper application. These options include:
– Foams
– Blown Cellulose
– Batt Insulation
– Nano-gel
– Air-Gap construction
– Vertical Joists

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Explain the importance of proper choice and installation of insulation layers
  • Describe the importance of proper building design to assure proper thermal barrier usage and durability
  • Explore Lessons Learned with proper and improper insulation choices
  • Discuss value and usage of emerging insulation technologies
