LED lighting is an important energy savings addition to any building’s lighting system. These systems are expensive and technically complex. How do you know if you are specifying good products? Learn some of the technology of how LED lighting works and features to look for in a fixture. Learn about the new DOE program “Lighting Facts” which will certify lighting, similar to how Energy Star does appliances.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
– Define general lighting measures: brightness (LUX lumen foot-candle), color (CRI CCT), power (Watts)
– Compare lighting efficiency and quality: incandescent, fluorescent, HID, LED
– Explore considerations in selecting LED fixtures: thermal, optical, product lifetime
– Determine if LED lighting is cost effective for your application
